On June 8th, retailers from the Central Okanagan will meet to connect, share experiences, ideas and more at “ReTales of Community”, featuring Jim Belshaw, owner of Roy’s Shoes, Boots and Repair, in Kelowna.

This opportunity for Kelowna’s entrepreneurs to learn how one of their own has made himself known on a national and international stage is orchestrated by Shelfspace – The Association for Retail Entrepreneurs, in conjunction with the Central Okanagan Economic Development Commission. This inaugural entrepreneurial celebration brings together retail owners, managers, staff and industry suppliers to meet one another, share stories, hear about new ideas and collaborate on issues that impact their businesses and their industry.

“Through causes like Soles for Souls and Ride for Dad, Jim’s story inspires people in both their personal and professional lives, and gets to the heard of what it means to be a community minded entrepreneur”, states Mark Startup, President & CEO of Shelfspace. “Jim’s dedication to serving his customers, as well as helping others locally and in Haiti, is truly commendable. We want other retail leaders to hear Jim’s story because that’s Shelfspace is about sharing stories of retail excellence and helping inspire others to do the same”.

Central Okanagan Economic Development Commission, Marketing and Research Associate, Michael Blondé, has been working with Shelfspace to coordinate this event in Kelowna. “This is an excellent opportunity for Okanagan retailers to engage themselves in an event that is focused towards supporting the local retail industry and finding new ways to market a brand or service. We are thrilled to welcome their expertise and regional perspective to our area” said Blondé.
